‘Autumn Praise and the Forest’

Since the last post there’s been way lot of development. Firstly, the crew’s come together. So, Drum roll please….

We have the co-writer and bassist, Parteesh Kaul, who recently graduated from the University of Texas.

We found a guitarist in Chingkham Socrates, who currently works and resides in Bangalore, India.

And helping us on certain tracks is Deepak Ningthoujam, the bassist in North East India’s phenomenon, Recycle.

Lawrence Chandam is the co-writer, producer and vocalist.

For the past few months, we have been exploring and chewing on all the unique sounds we discover.(It takes quite a bit to communicate with the different time zones). Guess its safe to say that we intend on releasing a 6 track EP by the year end.

Autumn Praise And The Forest is also looking to collaborate with more artists and are welcome to contributions in matters of sound and direction.

What's my song of the week?Click here to find out and sign up to share the song on your mind!

We like this because it is based on a simple human insight. That is, everyone has a JAM. A song they love beyond reason for a certain period of time. It can remind you of a place, a person, a time.
Well now, it can also be customized, shared and followed online on the website www.thisismyjam.com.

thisismyjam.com is a website that showcases your favourite song of the moment — the one you can’t get out of your head. You get a customisable page where you post a single song, a sort of musical “current status.” You can share it out to Twitter, Facebook, etc. Follow people whose music taste you’re into; hit play and you get an ever-changing playlist of jams curated by your friends.

Here’s how it works.

1 – Share one song
Choose one song. That song that’s been stuck on repeat, that one you love. Personalize it to make it yours, then share it with the world. This is your jam, and it’s yours for up to seven days. Change it whenever the mood strikes, but choose wisely. You only have one!

2 -Pump Up The Jams
Follow people if you like their music; and only if you like their music. Then play all their jams with one click. Listen to an evolving radio station of the best music, handpicked every day by your friends.

 3 - There is no step 3.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers recently released this cool interactive video for their new single ’Look Around.’  Developed by Axe Studios & Therapy Studios, the panoramic video allows users to click and drag around the video panning back and forth and zooming in and out between various rooms.  Little easter eggs with bonus videos, photos, etc. are sprinkled throughout the video and can be revealed via the ‘show hints’ button.

Shot with the RED EPIC camera in 5K resolution, the video shows off tiny details in each cubicle when zoomed into.So go ahead and ‘Look Around’ as your favorite band do what they do best.

Beth Jeans Houghton & The Hooves Of Destiny - ‘Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose’

Produced by Ben Hillier, of Blur’s ‘Think Tank’, ‘Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose’ released on 6 February 2012. Beth Jeans Houghton has garnered a reputation as an antidote to the current crop of acoustic songstresses.

Dodecahedron’ is surprisingly enticing. Beth’s feeble voice and the xylophone works for me. Also, the baritone that creeps up on the latter half of the song elevates it to higher ground.

Here’s what Houghton has to say about the song: “The night before I wrote it I had a dream that consisted of me running up to strangers in the street and asking them what a dodecahedron was, but no one knew. I later found out that the ancient Greeks believed the Dodecahedron is a symbol of the universe and represents an idealized form of divine thought. Take from that what you will.”

Goodbye Hooray!

Autumn Praise And The Forest.Yes, this is pretty much it!

Since a very long time I’v wanted to record an EP. Frankly, I dont know why I havent done it yet. It definitely takes more than just writing good songs. Thats the part that comes easy. At least to me. I have always been conflicted by the ‘Band vs Me’ issue when it came to writing a track. Always thought that giving in would be in the best interest of my band. Didn’t do good for any of us.

So here’s me giving myself a chance to rectify my mistakes. To follow my music honestly. I have decided to record all the songs I have by the end of the year. I have created this blog to document the process of rewriting/expanding and experimenting with all I have so far. To record all that inspires me(Audio/Visual Designs for the project) and share my experience with the artists I collaborate.

In order to share and experience this journey with me I ask you to subscribe by clicking on the RSS Feed icon on the top right corner. Now dont be alarmed if you are led to page of gibberish. Its because Chrome has no support for feeds. Try the same with another browser and you are sweet.

Lastly, I dedicate this blog to my friends Nakul and Prateek who celebrate their birthdays this month. Their birthdays are suspiciously close to one another. innit boys?

Well Its time to say goodbye to old habits. Cheers!
